MISSION AND GOALS
The University of Lahore
is culmination of the vision of the trustees of Ibadat Educational Trust. The
University is committed to the pursuit of truth, academic excellence, and
advancement of knowledge. The mission of the University is to provide
value-based education to all students. Doors of the University are open to
members of every caste, color and creed. The University culture should be able
to encourage the advancement of creative thought among the posterity. The
University welcomes and respects those whose lives are influenced by different
traditions, recognizing their important contribution to a pluralistic society
and to an atmosphere of discourse essential for sharpening the higher faculties
of mind. As a community, the University encourages brotherhood, shared decision-
making, and academic freedom. Education at the University is holistic and offers
opportunities for all intellectual, emotional, social, cultural, and physical
development. Students are encouraged to develop knowledge, values, and skills
that may enrich their lives and prepare them to provide services to national and
international communities. The primary goal of the University is to achieve a
level of academic excellence that measures favorably on the touchstone of
international standards. The University strives to build up resources necessary
for an institution of higher education devoted to teaching and research.
The goal of the University is to strive for promoting values that characterize
national higher education and Islamic learning. These values include academic
integrity, freedom, and rigorous quest for truth, justice, prudence, temperance,
fortitude, and compassion. These commitments of the University permeate in all
its academic programs The University continues to promote individual
responsibility, respect for each individual, and diversity of views needed for
the development of a community. Education at the University addresses the
fullest development of a person intellectually, spiritually, emotionally,
physically, socially and culturally. The University promotes these objectives by
providing reasonable opportunities, suitable Facilities, and appropriate support
services for the comprehensive growth of students, faulty and staff.
THE UNIVERSITY: AN OVERVIEW
The
University is situated at I-Km Raiwind Road, Lahore. The university has been
granted Charter as a degree awarding institute by the Government of the Punjab. The University is housed in a purpose built campus spread over an area of 40
kanals with all facilities essential for a good working university.
The
University strongly emphasizes on the training of youth in modern disciplines at
the cutting edge of knowledge. Much more attention is given to the emerging
fields of management sciences, health sciences, mathematical sciences,
information technology, electronics and communication technology, and social
sciences. Taking into consideration the rise of knowledge based technologies,
The University is devoting its resources generously on undergraduate and
graduate level programs. A number of programs have been initiated for the
studies to M. Phil and Ph. D degrees. Special attention is paid to the
laboratory based subjects.

ACCREDITATION
The University was established after receiving "No Objection Certificate" (NOC)
from the department of Education, Government of the Punjab and Higher Education
Commission. It is now a chartered University and has been authorized to issue
its own degrees in various disciplines.

PHYSICAL FACILITIES
Classrooms
The physical facilities include
spacious well lighted and air-conditioned classrooms and state of the art
laboratories. The classrooms are equipped with overhead projectors, multimedia
and other related audio-visual facilities.
Conference Room
Besides regular classroom
lectures, the students are encouraged to add to their knowledge from other
sources. For this purpose, speakers from various disciplines are invited to
deliver lectures and hold seminars. These sessions are conducted in a well
designed conference room, which is fully equipped with audio-visual facilities.
Library and Information Resource Centre
The library also serves as a resource centre provided with internet facilities
for rapid down loading of information by students with a band-width 128 KB. The
University has put up an antenna for receiving direct signals from ISP for the
University's internet facilities spread over all blocks of the campus through
intranet.
The information Resource Centre comprises of library and
cyberary. The spacious library has a substantial stock of current books and
periodicals and internet facilities with complete networking.
Computer laboratory
Computer Science
laboratories are equipped with state of the art computers with more than 200
monitors. Same is the case in the Institutes of information technology,
management sciences, public health and library.
Cafeteria
In order to provide a healthy
meeting place for students, an in-house spacious cafeteria is available, where
healthy food and snacks are served from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. a faculty lounge is
available for utilizing similar facilities.
Transport
Limited transport facilities are
available for bringing students from all over the city to the campus.
Hostels
Two hostels, one for the boys and
the other for girls accommodating 100 students each, have been provided. The
hostels are supervised by full time wardens. Strict discipline is maintained in
the hostels for reasons of safety and security.
